Maputo Corridor Logistics Initiative - 10th Anniversary Review & Membership Directory - page 4

Moving further east, the modern highway and rail track
approach Komatipoort and the Lebombo/Ressano Garcia border
crossing with Mozambique. Once on the Mozambique side of the
border, the N4 becomes the EN4, a fast and efficient 92km
national road running directly to the Port and City of Maputo.
Port Maputo offers the wealth of industrial and commercial
operations along the Maputo Corridor what they want – cost-
effective deep-water access for imports and exports alike.
Although it acts as the efficient eastern gateway for the
Maputo Corridor, Port Maputo is not an end point. Rather it is a
multimodal transport node, connecting Africa’s premier logistics
corridor to the markets of the world.
From Johannesburg to Nelspruit and Maputo, the significance
of the unique Maputo Corridor cannot be overstated. It does
more than connect – it establishes deep, long-lasting
relationships, not only between the South African and
Mozambican governments and companies, but also between
nations and business communities on a regional and global
scale.

Maputo Corridor Logistics Initiative
THE STRATEGIC
OBJECTIVES OF MCLI
• To co-ordinate the views of investors,
service providers and users of the Corridor
to promote development, change and
operational efficiencies, making the
Maputo Corridor the first choice for the
region’s stakeholders.
• To inform the market about the Corridor
and to market the strategic benefits and
opportunities offered by the Corridor.
Although it acts as the efficient eastern
gateway for the Maputo Corridor, Port
Maputo is not an end point. Rather it is a
multimodal transport node, connecting
Africa’s premier logistics corridor to the
markets of the world.
